This is NOT good!!!!

I hurried home after spending the say with my Mom taking her to two medical appointments and two cemetaries (she wants to keep flowers on my Dad's burial plot and her brother's), and to the grocery store. We med Hubby at Chick-fil-A for lunch and while we were dining some bird tried to buy our vehcile (they put a deposit right on the windshield and side window).

As soon as I arrived home I was going to wash the poop off the windows, UNTIL said snake was spotted right under the outside faucet where the water hose is connected. There was no way on God's green earth was I going to put my hand anywhere close to that snake to turn on the water, so naturally I screamed for Hubby. He was on the phone, how surprising, and was rather irritated that I was disturbing his conversation. I found a hatchet out by the wood pile and made him kill the snake. I don't have any idea what kind it is, but as far as I'm concerned it might as well be a rattlesnake. A snake, is a snake, is a snake. This is the DEAD snake, the ONLY good kind. AND this is the first real warm day we have had. Do you think I'm going to ever plunder around in the dark out there around that water faucet again? NO WAY! I'm just saying.

Sorry about the blood, I didn't realize snakes had blood.

This is a test to see if I can get photos to post. It worked when I view my blog, but all I can see is this Russian looking stuff, rather than photos? In this case, I'm adding another photo, so you will have the before, during and after photos of the theater project. Just read the narrative below. The bottom photo is the before, the top photo is the during and the middle photo is the finished product. :-)

ALMOST COMPLETED SOON I HOPE!

For many years we had a hobby that turned into a small business for us, a photography business. Hubby was very good at this, but it was hard work. We photographed children, weddings, families and small commercial jobs. We did very well, but I hated the weddings. I used to have nightmares about them. They were extremely stressful (you only get one shot at the job). It's not like you can go back and reshoot if the photos don't turn out well. I did an analysis of the hours and net profit and we could have worked at McDonald's and made about the same amount of money without the stress. So, when Hubby was downed sized (nice way of saying "you are fired") we started another business in order to make a living and could not maintain both businesses. We made a decision to sell the photo equipment and we had lots of it. We managed to sell most of the professional equipment, but in exchange for the photo studio that was in the attic, we put in a theater. I must admit the theater is so much more fun.

Well, the treadmill was behind the theater screen and Hubby decided to sell the treadmill. The entire screen had to be moved in order to move the treadmill. It was a big mess. I don't get it. Hubby starts projects, but he always manages to drag me into them, kicking and screaming, I might add. I had the "pleasure" of figuring out what type of materials we needed to use to close in the screen. We made a couple of trips to the fabric store, but I finally decided that burlap might work. That would allow the sound to come through the fabric, but give a finished look above and beside the screen. It took me several hours to attach the burlap to the frame Hubby had build, but I did it and he was extremely pleased. It's a good thing, because he was going to have the pleasure of figuring out what was going to be put up.

All the junk has been cleaned out from behind the screen, all the dust bunnies have been caged and we have a finished product. The only thing Hubby want to do is build a shelf that will accommodate the amp the DVD player AND store all the DVD's we have collected. I want to buy a small bookcase, but NOOOOOO, he's going to build one. He actually is a very good carpenter, but I want this project finished NOW! He's working on the bookcase. I suppose that is best, because he can make it just the right height and width to fit the corner where it will be used. However, I think that's going to require a new connection from the projector to the DVD player. One thing always calls for another. I've attempted to add photos, but I keep getting this Russian looking stuff at the top of the page. I give up. I'll just post the narrative.

THANK YOU GEORGIA DOT!?

The contractor had to come and pull us out of this mud with a chain and Bob Cat (tractor). Good thing we have a hitch on the back of the van! This mess has been going on for 28 months. We are ready for this project to be OVER! This is almost the straw that broke the camel's back. We have been dealing with mud, dust, inconvenience, moved mailbox, no mailbox, blocked driveway, no fence, no gate and contract issues. After three big loads of more crushed rock there was somewhat of an improvement. The surface was still spongy when humans walked over it. Then yesterday they dug all that up and added new gravel. We were able to get out of the driveway today. WHEN WILL THIS EVER END!?

MAMA TURNS 90

Katie turns 90! We took her to eat at her favorite place--Cracker Barrel. All of her children (both of us) and her grands were there as well. I managed to surprise her, and my brother, by inviting Gloria and Sandra, their spouses and their Dad, Tom. We have been friends, well more like family, for 60+ years. My Mom was so surprised and so excited that "all" of her kids were there. I made her a strawberry pound cake with butter frosting with strawberries. It was delicious. No wonder it's so hard for me to get this weight off my bones!

HUBBY MAKING CHAIRS

Hubby spends a lot of time in his workshop. He has built a lot of things for our home down there and enjoyed every minutes of it. His favorite thing is making Windsor chairs, because of our interest in the 18th Century. That was the century we declaired our independence from England. (Sorry Pastor--he's English, you know.)

Hubby is working on a Philadelphia fanback with arms at the present time. I don't have a clue where we are going to put this chair when he finishes it, because we are presently housing four bow back Windsors around our kitchen table, four more bow back Windsors scattered all over the house and the first bow back Windsor he made a John C. Campbell Folk School is gracing our foyer. So, does any body want to buy four bow back Windsor chairs? All the spindles of these chairs are made from oak trees he actually cut with his own hands, the legs are maple and the seats are white pine. All have antique finishes, except for the first one, which he painted green. GREEN!? Yes, the first Windsor chairs were actually 18th Century lawn chairs. They were mostly used outside and they were all painted.

He has watched Norm Abrham's video on making a Windsor chair so many times I think I could make a chair myself. I'm positive I can put the finish on it, because that is part of the video.
